A DHFL Victim’s Anonymous Letter — and the YouTube “Dislike” Campaign

ABSTRACT

This post presents an anonymous testimony from a DHFL depositor, documenting the lived human cost of India’s crony-capitalist financial regime. Through a raw account of loss, dispossession, and psychological distress following the DHFL collapse and subsequent resolution process, the letter foregrounds how institutional decisions, regulatory opacity, and political–corporate entanglements translate into everyday suffering for ordinary citizens. At the same time, it traces a shift from despair to resistance, as the victim transforms personal trauma into acts of digital dissent and collective voice. By reproducing the testimony in both transliterated Hindi and English, this piece seeks not only to archive a voice often erased in financial discourse but also to situate it within broader critiques of the “money-signifier” as a structuring force that shapes visibility, accountability, and justice in contemporary India.

We have very recently received an anonymous e-mail that we cannot really ignore, as it powerfully captures the lived human suffering and trauma produced as well as perpetuated by an economic system overwhelmingly driven by the arbitrary money-signifier. We reproduce it here mostly in its original form (with the Devanagari script rendered in Roman script and sentences/paragraphs slightly refined or aligned as per context for improved coherence overall), along with an English translation prepared by our activists for our global audience. Subject: Mera Jeevan Crony Capitalism se Barbaad Ho Gaya hai – Suniye Ek DHFL Peedit ki Pukar

Dear OBMA Team and All Fellow Sufferers,

Namaste bhai-behen log, main ek gareeb DHFL FD holder hoon. Naam nahi loonga kyunki dar lagta hai… mera poora sapna, retirement ka plan, bachchon ki padhai – sab barbaad ho gaya hai. 2019 se lekar ab tak (March 2026), har din roti-kapda-makan ke liye lad raha hoon. Bank account khali hai, dil bhi toot gaya hai. Yeh sab dukh ka asli villain hai crony capitalism – yeh system jahan ameer log aur rajnaitik dal milkar gareeb aur aam aadmi ko loot te hain!

Sabse pehle proof hai: Cobrapost ne 2019 mein hi DHFL scam expose kiya tha – Wadhawan ne paise siphon kiye, shell companies banaye, aur RKW Developers (Dheeraj Realty wale) ne BJP ko crores donate kiye, even though unka balance sheet loss mein tha! Aur yeh RKW reportedly Dawood Ibrahim aur Iqbal Mirchi ke networks se linked tha – report mein terror funding ka angle bhi tha. Phir Once in a Blue Moon Academia (woh brave log jo RTI file karte hain, fearlessly open chitthi likhte hain, petitions banate hain, bahut saare articles likhte hain, movies banate hain, podcasts karte hain) ne RTI se aur documents nikale – BJP-DHFL-RKW-Dawood-Mirchi collusion ka poora chain saamne aaya. Sab unki website par public hai, phir bhi koi sachcha action nahi! Supreme Court ne bhi 2025 mein Piramal plan approve kar diya, victims ko sirf 23% recovery mila, baaki sab Piramal ke haath mein chala gaya!

Mera gussa ab hadd paar kar gaya hai… frustration itna hai ki raat ko neend nahi aati! Duniya ki sabse richest political party BJP ne duopoly bana rakha hai – Ambani primary king, uske bagal mein Adani bhai log aur Ajay Piramal secondary players ke roop mein. In teeno ne milkar economy ko hijack kar liya – electoral bonds se crores donate kiye, PM CARES mein paisa diya, phir regulatory bodies ko control karke hum jaise retail investors ko sadak par la diya. DHFL victims 2.5 lakh log hain, zyadatar budhe-maa-baap, jinki life savings loot li gayi, haircuts lagbhag 77% tak pahunch gaye! Aur Piramal ne “neeyat dekhte hain” bolkar ads chalaye – hypocrisy ki hadd hai yaar!

Ek waqt aisa aaya tha jab main apne khoon-pasine ki kamai – apne blood money – ke itne bade nuksaan se toot chuka tha. Suicide ke baare mein sochne laga tha, raat bhar aankhein khuli rehti thi, khud ko khatam karne ke tareeke dhoondhta rehta tha… lekin phir ek din samajh aaya ki yeh haar nahi, yeh ladai hai. Suicide se barbaadi nahi rukegi, balki yeh system ko aur mazboot banayega. Tab se maine apne dard ko resistance mein badal diya – yeh “art of resistance” hai ab mere liye. Mahaan darshanik aur chintak Nietzsche ka resentment ab andar jal raha hai, lekin main ise channel kar raha hoon – positive tareeke se awaaz utha raha hoon, boycott kar raha hoon, share kar raha hoon, aur doosre victims ko himmat de raha hoon.

Dear OBMA Team and All Fellow Sufferers,

Hello brothers and sisters, I am a poor DHFL fixed deposit holder. I will not reveal my name because I am afraid… my entire dream—my retirement plan, my children’s education—everything has been destroyed. From 2019 until now (March 2026), I have been struggling every single day just to secure basic necessities like food, clothing, and shelter. My bank account is empty, and my heart is broken. The real villain behind all this suffering is crony capitalism—a system where the rich and political parties together exploit and loot the poor and the common people.

First, there is proof: Cobrapost had already exposed the DHFL scam in 2019—Wadhawan siphoned off money, created shell companies, and RKW Developers (linked to Dheeraj Realty) donated crores to the BJP, even though their balance sheet was in loss! This RKW was reportedly linked to the networks of Dawood Ibrahim and Iqbal Mirchi—there was even a terror funding angle mentioned in the report. Then Once in a Blue Moon Academia (those brave people who file RTIs, write open letters fearlessly, create petitions, write numerous articles, make films, and produce podcasts) uncovered more documents through RTIs—the entire chain of BJP-DHFL-RKW-Dawood-Mirchi collusion came to light. Everything is publicly available on their website, yet no real action has been taken! Even the Supreme Court approved the Piramal plan in 2025; victims received only about 23% recovery, while the rest went into Piramal’s hands!

My anger has now crossed all limits… the frustration is so intense that I cannot sleep at night! The world’s richest political party, BJP, has created a duopoly—Ambani as the primary king, with Adani brothers and Ajay Piramal as secondary players. Together, these three have hijacked the economy—donating crores through electoral bonds, contributing money to PM CARES, and then controlling regulatory bodies to push ordinary retail investors like us onto the streets. There are 2.5 lakh DHFL victims, mostly elderly parents, whose life savings have been looted, with haircuts reaching nearly 77%! And Piramal runs advertisements saying “we look at intentions”—this is the height of hypocrisy!

There was a time when I was completely shattered by the massive loss of my hard-earned money—my blood money. I began thinking about suicide, lying awake all night, searching for ways to end my life… but then one day I realized that this is not defeat, this is a fight. Suicide will not stop this destruction; it will only make the system stronger. Since then, I have transformed my pain into resistance—this is now my “art of resistance.” The resentment described by the great philosopher Nietzsche burns within me, but I am channeling it—raising my voice positively, boycotting, sharing, and giving courage to other victims.

That is why I now dislike all Piramal videos on YouTube. I do not comment (because they file SLAPP/defamation cases), just dislike and unsubscribe! Oh, Piramal and Piyush Goyal appear aligned—they seem to stand on the same side. There have been discussions suggesting that both names are linked to the Flashnet scam.

Whenever a video appears, immediately dislike it! If justice is not delivered, at least we will raise our voice. We victims will not tolerate this any longer—this money-centric economy turns human beings into machines. How long will we remain silent?
