ONCE IN A BLUE MOON ACADEMIA (OBMA)

OBMA as an activist platform confronts two intertwined crises: the collapse of the financial system and the degradation of the natural ecosystem. We expose, analyze, and resist the structures driving both, building a clear, critical, and accountable counter-narrative for our times. We affirm that the protection of human and animal rights, the defence of the planet, and the dismantling of exploitative economic architectures form a single and inseparable struggle.
Our work stands at the intersection of International Human Rights, Environmental Justice, Critical Social Sciences, and the Philosophy of Sciences. We study and publicly disseminate knowledge on global human and ecological violations, especially where corporate power hides dispossession behind the rhetoric of “development,” “reform,” or “growth.” We investigate the corporate–state nexus, financial frauds, extractive economies, debt-driven dependence, and the criminalization of dissent, while developing emancipatory theoretical and practical responses rooted in equitable democratic participation, critical pedagogy, and non-violent collective action. OBMA creates forums, workshops, publications, artistic expressions, and multimedia archives that resist erasure and make complex expressions accessible to all. We cultivate an transdisciplinary research community across sociology, economics, ecology, law, philosophy, science, and lived struggles, while rejecting the subordination of knowledge to market logic or corporate philanthropy. We promote scientific temper without surrendering to technocratic authoritarianism, insisting that sciences remain accountable to planetary life, dignity, and justice.
Our global solidarities extend to movements, academics, workers, farmers, students, indigenous communities, and all frontline defenders of rights and ecosystems. We hold that knowledge cannot be neutral when injustice is institutionalized, and we embrace critical, ethical scholarship that stands with the vulnerable and challenges systems that normalize exploitation — financial, ecological, political, and epistemic. The overarching purpose of OBMA is to restore the primacy of life over capital, community over extraction, environment over profit, and dignity over domination — shaping a just, sustainable, and plural planetary future.
