ABSTRACT
The article explores the alleged involvement of the BJP in the DHFL scam, highlighting potential connections between Ajay Piramal and the party, including political donations and the Flashnet scam involving Piyush Goyal. It suggests a quid pro quo relationship where political donations were reciprocated with favors. The report also mentions accusations linking DHFL with terror funding via Dawood Ibrahim, late Iqbal Mirchi et al., and questions about transparency in financial dealings, particularly regarding donations to BJP through electoral bonds. The piece calls for a political critique of these issues.

ROLE OF BJP IN THE DHFL SCAM
- Hello everyone. I welcome you all to these short video reports of the Once in a Blue Moon Academia (OBMA), aimed towards communicating certain issues with the victims of the DHFL Scam. In this first video, I will attempt to give an overview of the role of BJP in catalyzing the DHFL scam in the first place. How can the role of BJP be understood?
- First of all, Mr. Ajay Piramal, the so-called “winner” of the bidding war, has always remained in the good book of the current ruling party of India, viz., the BJP. This was clear even much before the DHFL scam, when Mr. Piramal’s collusion with the ruling party became evident through the fact of Flashnet Scam involving BJP Union Minister Mr. Piyush Goyal when Mr. Piramal bought Mr. Goyal’s company in 1000 times its face value. Moreover, Mr. Piramal has contributed 85 crores through electoral bonds to the BJP. The DHFL seems to be a return gift to Piramal for his services to the BJP by means of a “you scratch my back, I scratch yours” quid pro quo affair.
- Furthermore, let us go back further in the timeline of the DHFL scam. On 29.01.2019, the Cobrapost, in its findings on the DHFL scam, reported that the BJP is involved in this scam through terror-funding/political donation/political charity. The nexus/collusion amidst DHFL, RKW Developers (Dheeraj Realty), the BJP and the Dawood Ibrahim-Iqbal Mirchi-Chhota Shakeel Gang was alleged through this report.
- To enquire about this, some of us from the OBMA filed an RTI. When concerned authority of the RTI gave some DHFL Victims a negative (ambiguous?) response, the victims had requested the President, BJP and the Sarsanghchalak of the RSS (a non-registered Hindu extremist group) to file a defamation case against the media houses, who had spread such “rumors” or “false allegations” against a party, which is not a public authority according to its own official statement. However, till date no such defamation case has been filed either by the BJP or by the RSS against those newspapers.
- It is also to be mentioned that on 25.06.2022, the Indian National Congress alleged the BJP of getting political donations worth 27.5 crores (or more, as political parties are not “public authorities”, it is very difficult to know the exact figure of donations made by unknown sources in the electoral bonds.) from the DHFL. The DHFL was also a major contributor in PMAY, which, despite being under the control of the Prime Minister, is stricken with corrupt practices and transactions. Ambiguously enough, in the case of PM CARES fund, it is simultaneously governmental as well as non-governmental. None can use the RTI for any inquiry about these transparently opaque cases from the scam-hit DHFL.
- From a general viewpoint of political analysis, the rising assets of the BJP is to be correlated with these rampant bankruptcies in the past decade in India. As per a 2017 ADR report, BJP’s Declared Assets Increased By 627% in 10 Years. BJP held assets worth Rs 6,046.81 cr in 21-22, highest among all parties: ADR. The superrich wilful defaulters have been given free transit by the BJP to fly away to abroad countries without meeting their payment obligations while the DHFL victims have received massive haircuts in their lifetime savings.
- This raises the very important point that the DHFL scam is a political matter that needs a political critique. The BJP is at the centre of this scam.
- Thank you, we will get back to you with many more such short video-reports such as this.
